Dear Pupil and Parent/Carer,
You are invited to this year’s James Gillespie’s High School Transition Festival. Details of the event are listed below:
James Gillespie’s High School S1 Transition
Date: Monday 15th June
Venue: Meadowbank Sports Centre, London Road, Edinburgh EH7 6AE
Time: 9.30am – 2.30pm
Our Active Schools Health and Well Being Transition serves as a precursor to our in-school visits later in the week, giving our new S1 pupils the chance to meet their new friends in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. They will rotate around a variety of activities, many of which form the basis of our Extra Curricular Sports Membership Programme, accompanied by our S6 students and various school teachers.
As many of these activities are physical, pupils are asked to be dressed in suitable kit. Break and lunch periods will be provided and it is therefore requested that all pupils attending have enough food and water provisions to last them the day. Fingers crossed we have similar weather to last year, therefore could all pupils please bring suntan cream and also waterproof clothing just in case. In the event of severe inclement weather, the festival will be moved to the indoor areas within Meadowbank Sports Centre.
Parents are more than welcome to stay for the duration of the day. If your child does not attend one of our feeder Primary Schools then you are required to stay as indicated in earlier correspondence. An indoor café with viewing facilities is located on the upper level of the centre.
When arriving at the centre please ask to be directed to the James Gillespie’s High School Festival within the Stadium.
If you have any questions or queries regarding the festival, please contact me by email
I look forward to seeing you on Monday 15th June.
Yours sincerely,
Jonathan Wallace
